At the Annual Meeting 2009, MVA will introduce the Medicon Valley Cross-Border Award within science and business. The annual Medicon Valley Cross-Border Award of DKK 25.000 will be presented to a person acting within the Medicon Valley life science community. The overall purpose of the award is to recognise the many initiatives that unite life science organisations in the region and to advance opportunities in the region aiming to improve science and/or business in the region. The Life Science Ambassador Programme is now being expanded to also include South Korea and Canada, and will involve the exchange of three new Life Science Ambassadors. The work of the three new Life Science Ambassadors will be to establish business relations, research partnerships and networks between companies, investors, universities and hospitals in British Columbia (Canada), South Korea and Medicon Valley. The cross-border Medicines Research Academy has now been launched. Discussions started in connection with the work for Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI) some 3 years ago, and now 11 faculties from 4 universities in Sweden and Denmark have joined forces to collaborate regarding PhD courses and research training: Lund University, the University of Copenhagen, the Technical University of Denmark and Uppsala University. Millions of Euros wait to be used in the Øresund Region. Only about 9 MEUR out of 52 MEUR has been granted of the Øresund allocated money from the EU to enhance cross border development in the region. Now the Øresund University promotes and supports its member universities to apply for EU funding. Read more
