	New Research Center in Copenhagen The Nordea Fund has donated DKK 150 million to a new cross scientific research center at the University of Copenhagen. It will be named Center for Health Ageing. Professor Michael Kjær explains. View more

Achieve Milestone in Discovery Collaboration The two companies, who initiated the collaboration in December 2006, are moving the program into preclinical development. 	Japanese Pharma Visits Medicon Valley Japan's third largest pharmaceutical company Daiichi-Sankyo visited last week Medicon Valley as part of the Medicon Valley Life Science Ambassador Programme. Together with MVAs Life Science Ambassador Thomas Jonsson, Daiichi-Sankyo met with universities, science parks, and several MVA member companies. View more

New Forces to Medicon Valley Alliance

MVA would like to welcome Peter Nordström and Anne Mette Lyck to Medicon Valley Alliance.

Peter Nordström, Senior Project Manager will, among other things, be involved in Øresund Diabetes Academy (ØDA) and the MVA event Medicon Valley Golf Championship, planned for end May 2009. Anne Mette Lyck, Communication and Sales Specialist will be involved in member communication as well as corporate communication, sales and sponsorships. The Ambassador Programme Stimulates Scientific Research Activities Between Japan and Medicon Valley - 17 December

Make use of the unique opportunity to experience the result of the collaboration between Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST), Japan and Lund University in a joint research seminar on 17 December 2008. The collaboration is an outcome of the Medicon Valley Life Science Ambassador Programme. Read more

Medicon Valley Workshop on Research Infrastructure for Life Science -
Registration Deadline 19 December

MVA is hosting a workshop on research infrastructure for life science on 14 January 2009. The aim of the workshop is to give examples of top level research environments within a distance of 45 minutes by car, and discuss if, why and how we could take advantage of the proximity in the region. The workshop takes place at MVA premises in Ørestad, Denmark and the deadline for registration is 19 December. Read more

Business Culture Workshops - February and March 2009

With a little preparation your business trip abroad or the collaboration with international partners could be even more successful.

Learn about business culture in other countries at the series of workshops offered by MVA, free of charge. The countries covered are UK, US, Germany, Japan, and China. Successful Visit to Medicon Valley from Japanese Pharmaceutical Company Daiichi-Sankyo

Daiichi-Sankyo, one of the top 20 largest pharmaceutical company in Japan, has visited Medicon Valley as part of the Medicon Valley Life Science Ambassador Programme. Read more

High Interest in Seminar about Danish Life Science and Swedish Benchmarking

Nearly 70 persons participated in the seminar at Ideon, Lund on 4 December where MVA's Stina Gestrelius presented the report ‘Why is Danish Life Science thriving?' and VINNOVA's Anna Sandström presented a comparison of Sweden to the U.S., Canada, Singapore and Japan. The presentations and the report are available for download here.

AstraZeneca has announced the divestment to GlaxoSmithKline of a portfolio of over-the-counter (OTC) products predominantly sold in Sweden. The decision reinforces AstraZeneca's strategy to focus on innovation in prescription medicines. Read more

New Application Deadlines for FP7 Funding

The Danish Agency for Science Technology and Innovation offers financial support to SMEs in connection with FP7 applications. The application deadlines have been set to the 14 January, 25 February, 16 April and 3 June 2009. Read more

Call for Application for SAMBIO 2008 Funding

VINNOVA has issued a call for funding through their SAMBIO programme. SEK 85 million is available and the deadline is 22 January 2008. SAMBIO is a Collaboration Programme by VINNOVA between companies and academic research in the bioscience field. Read more about the call here (in Swedish).

Call for Proposals for the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation

In 2009, the Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation has DKK 280 million available for distribution within two main competitions, with a call for advanced technology projects and a call for advanced technology platforms. The deadline for applications is 27 January 2009. Read more
