While the Danish autumn is embracing our daily life both literally and in terms of working conditions for our companies in the medico biotech industry, it can be a real challenge to see past next task, next month or next year.
We acknowledge this fact; however, as a science park this is exactly what we have to do. Like our tenants putting all their efforts in R&D activities, and constantly striving for better results and new fields of applications, Scion DTU seeks the most opportune programs and collaborations for supporting the innovative progress of our companies.
During the past 2-3 years Scion DTU has therefore been looking very structured and energetic abroad. In my opinion, we are committed to think and act as globally as most of our companies do, taking into consideration know-how, technology, manpower and future tenants.
Our Vision
In Scion DTU we have a vision: By 2011, all high-tech companies will contact Scion DTU when they want to grow on a European scale. We admit that it is a very ambitious vision, but nevertheless; we are working on it every day.
Besides adapting to the present global market situation and providing the companies with the most flexible solutions for them to adjust to the new market conditions, Scion DTU is planning for 2011 - and we have been doing so for quite some time.
The members of the International Association of Science Parks (IASP) have decided that Copenhagen will be hosting the World Conference 2011. We will invite approx. 700 delegates to spend three days in Copenhagen with an intensive program of both professional seminars, technical speeches and social events.
IASP 2011
In collaboration with Symbion Science Park, Scion DTU won the hosting over Dubai, and will be responsible for the program, planning and execution of the IASP World Conferences in 2011, and both science parks are very proud to be able to host this event in Copenhagen.
One could ask oneself why? To me the answer is very clear: This conference is a means of integration into Europe, into the world, putting Medicon Valley and Scion DTU / Symbion Science Park on the agenda in terms of innovative research and development as well as highly skilled professors and professional companies.
Benefits for the Science Parks and the Region
It is my opinion that the region of Medicon Valley will benefit from the network that the IASP World Conference will provide - representing more than 340 science parks with more than 2 million innovative companies in just over 70 countries.
This collaboration and the gathering of hopefully 700 delegates from science parks all over the world will be yet another extended arm into the global market targeting start ups, upcoming and maturing companies. Some of them will have to decide where to place their European headquarters in the future. As our vision states; we want them to contact us, and ideally, if we can offer the best conditions for their growth, let it be with us in the Medicon Valley Alliance!
Last but not least, internally in Scion DTU the preparation for the IASP World Conferences 2011 will require development of our own organization to live up to our vision and we are looking forward to this challenge. Another benefit!
