15 January - AstraZeneca has announced the launch of a new clinical trial, SATURN, designed to measure the impact of CRESTOR 40 mg and atorvastatin 80 mg on the progression of atherosclerosis in high risk patients. SATURN will compare the effects of these two statins on the ability to decrease progression or induce regression of atherosclerosis, the main cause of cardiovascular disease, following two years of treatment in patients with coronary artery disease. 15 January - BioInvent International AB has announced that they have received approval from the Danish Medicines Agency to initiate a Phase I clinical trial of BI-204, a potential treatment for cardiovascular conditions brought on by atherosclerosis. The trial will be managed by BioInvent and carried out in Denmark, with the first subject expected to be recruited in the study imminently. Read more
18 January - BioInvent International AB and co-development partner ThromboGenics NV announce today that they have received approval from the regulatory authorities in Denmark to initiate a Phase I clinical trial of the novel anti-cancer agent TB-403. TB-403 is a monoclonal antibody that targets the angiogenic factor PlGF (placental growth factor). Read more
