2007 an Excellent Year for Danish Biotech

Danish biotech companies collected altogether EUR 347 million on the hard-pressed stock market in 2007 for the redevelopment of new drugs. This is concluded in a new analysis from Danske Bank.

In spite of a dull atmosphere on the stock exchange markets the Danish biotech companies were able to collect a historically high development amount for the companies. A new analysis of the biotech industry from Danske Bank shows that Danish biotech companies collected EUR 347 million last year.

Among the companies that reaped the hugest profit from share issue in 2007 were for example Curalogic, TopoTarget, Bavarian Nordic, Pharmexa and Neurosearch. A great part of the amount comes from international investors according to general manager Henrik Ernø from Danske Bank's Corporate Finance department.

- Approximately half the money collected on the stock exchange in 2007 comes from international investors and the trend is that more and more of the transactions will be based on international demand, says Henrik Ernø to Børsen.
