7 December - Genmab A/S announced today it has initiated a Phase I/II safety and dose finding study of HuMax-CD38TM for the treatment of multiple myeloma (MM). The study will include a maximum of 122 patients with MM who are relapsed or refractory to at least two different prior treatments and are without further established treatment options. Read more
5 December - BioInvent has decided to designate a new clinical drug candidate, BI-505. The new drug candidate comes from BioInvent's research programme within the area of apoptosis (programmed cell death) to fight tumour cells. The selection of the new candidate means that it can now enter a preclinical development phase, the stage preceding clinical trials. Read more
5 December - Genzyme Corp. announced today that the company has completed enrollment of a phase 2 clinical trial examining the safety and effectiveness of Clolar® (clofarabine) in previously untreated, older adult patients with acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) who are unlikely to benefit from standard induction therapy. 3 December - Ferring Pharmaceuticals has successfully completed the pivotal phase III study for degarelix, its novel prostate cancer treatment. The study met the primary objective of reducing levels of testosterone, while the safety profile was in line with previously conducted studies. Degarelix is one of the first drugs in the emerging GnRH blocker class of treatments for prostate cancer. Read more
3 December - NeuroSearch has enrolled and dosed the first healthy volunteers in a clinical Phase I study with NSD-644 with a view to develop this drug candidate as a new treatment for pain and other disorders of the central nervous system. NSD-644 is being developed under an alliance agreement with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), and the initiation of Phase I studies releases a milestone payment to NeuroSearch of EUR 4 million (DKK 30 million).
