Nycomed’s acquisition of Altana which started on September 21, 2006 has been finalized. Representatives from both companies have signed the agreement to transfer shares from Altana to Nycomed.
Under the deal, Nycomed is purchasing Altana Pharma, the pharmaceutical division of German drug and chemical group Altana.
The transaction was approved by the relevant authorities in Europe and the US and received approval from Altana’s shareholders in December 2006.
”We are very pleased with the completion of this transaction, so that we can now start the integration of the two companies. We shall now transform the combined business to a new and unique pharmaceutical company with an increased strength in the market and with an improved access to new products,” stated Nycomed’s CEO Håkan Björklund.
The new company will be presented officially on January 16, 2007.
