The second event of the UK Medicon Valley collaboration took place at the Clinical Research Centre at Malmö University Hospital UMAS, Sweden on April 23rd .
The focus of the workshop covered the latest advances in science and technology in diabetes and obesity research.
The event brought together leading researchers and clinicians from Denmark, Sweden and the UK with the aim to encourage new multidisciplinary R&D partnerships, facilitate knowledge sharing as well as dialogue between the two regions. The event was strongly attended by representatives from both academia and industry here in Medicon Valley.
During the course of the workshop it was announced that as part of the UK-Medicon Valley Bioscience Alliance’s goal of increasing interactions between the UK and Medicon Valley as well as between academics and life science companies in the two regions, the Alliance would be establishing a postdoctoral program linked to the various research workshops being organized. The programme will involve an exchange of post-doctoral scientists between the two regions, offering unique, high-profile research opportunities to exciting young scientists, as well as to the academic groups and companies involved.
The first postdoctoral program will initially comprise 4 fellowships in the area of diabetes research.
