TopoTarget is the first Danish biotech company in Medicon Valley that has been granted FDA approval for marketing a new indication treatment in the US. Totect is due for launch on the US market in October 2007. Peter Buhl Jensen, CEO of TopoTarget, has high expectations for the product. Using the experience gained by the company from the launch of Savene in Europe in 2006, TopoTarget has worked hard to prepare the market for the launch of Totect and has built its own sales force in the US. Health economy was the topic for the workshop held two weeks ago by MVA Bladder Academy. It was decided to continue and strengthen the health economy track in Bladder Academy, more specifically within the area of incontinence. The focus of the project will be the cost of incontinence in general, and how different measures can change the costs for incontinence patients in health budgets, municipal budgets and for society in general.

As part of the MVA 10 year anniversary, 50 high school students from Medicon Valley were invited on a guided one-day tour to explore the biotech industry in Medicon Valley. The purpose of the tour was to captivate the students' interest in life science.
- At first I was not quite sure whether to participate, but now I realise that biotech is the future, commented a student from Sorø Akademi in Denmark.
Moreover, the tour served as inspiration for the ongoing Medicon Valley Life Science Essay Competition. Read more

On 25 September MVA was visited by a delegation from the department of strategic Planning - Ministry of Planning and Budget of the Republic of Korea. The delegation was interested in learning similar cluster organisation in Korea. Read more
On 21 September MVA hosted a high level delegation of policy makers, academics and business people from the northern Munho region of Portugal. The Task Force is developing a cluster strategy for the biomedical and health related services in Portugal. At the top of their agenda for their visit, was their meeting with MVA to discuss issues related to MVA's role in the region. Read more
The US government has extended the RFP-2 contract that was awarded to Bavarian Nordic in 2004. Within the scope of the extension, Bavarian Nordic will initiate a larger Phase II study with IMVAMUNE in people diagnosed with atopic dermatitis. Read more

Probi has signed a license agreement with NextFoods for the American market regarding the launch of a functional food product containing Probi's probiotics. Probi is guaranteed a royalty of USD 1.5 million in 2008-2009. Read more

The Dow Jones Sustainability indexes ranks Novo Nordisk as best in its class in terms of sustainability in the pharmaceutical industry. Lise Kingo, Executive Vice President at Novo Nordisk comments that the ranking as the leading company regarding sustainability is well in line with the results Novo Nordisk has achieved. Read more

BioPorto develops and markets antibodies and antibody-based products, including tests to diagnose human disease both for the benefit of individual patients and to promote efficiency in the health sector. The company's developments include a test (NGAL) to diagnose and monitor acute kidney damage. BioPorto was founded in 2000 and has 25 employees. BioPorto is owned by a group of shareholders, and the company's B shares are listed on OMX Nordic Exchange Copenhagen (BIOP B).

Qlucore provides software solutions for interactive analysis and visualization of large data sets, from Microarrays or other types, including financial data with up to 100 million samples. The software enables researchers and users to find structures and patterns in their data sets. All work is carried out on a normal PC and the results of filtering are shown instantly in 3D plots which the user can turn and rotate. A solution cornerstone is an innovative use of Principal Component Analysis (PCA) algorithms.
