The Business Conference is initiated 27 September by the biotech investment visionary Steven Burrill. The conference will deal with R&D issues for modern medicines development, which have been pinpointed as essential for the Innovative Medicines Initiative, a proposed joint undertaking between EU and the European pharma industry during FP 7 to develop better medicines faster. Novo Nordisk launches the Changing Diabetes Bus World Tour in order to raise awareness on diabetes
Under the motto ‘a global drive to change diabetes’, a world leader in diabetes care, the Medicon Vlley Academy member Novo Nordisk, unveils a Changing Diabetes Bus. This bus is realising a one-and-a-half-year-long journey around the world. It is one of the more ambitious initiatives from Novo Nordisk to raise awareness about diabetes. Read more
Natimmune acquires Nya HAMLET Pharma
7 September NatImmune acquired Nya HAMLET Pharma, a privately held company based in Lund, Sweden. Nya HAMLET Pharma was founded by Catharina Svanborg, professor at University of Lund, and it specializes in development of protein-derived compounds for cancer treatment. NatImmune has acquired Nya HAMLET Pharma through the acquisition of the entire issued share capital. Read more
Zealand Pharma raises capital for development of drugs for heart and cancer patients
With a capital injection from existing shareholders of close to EUR 30 million Zealand Pharma has gained the financial strength to continue the development of its drugs for heart and cancer patients. Zealand also plans to bring several new drugs into clinical development. Zealand's management has been strengthened with the promotion of Jørgen Søberg Petersen, Chief Scientific Officer, to Executive Vice President and the recruitment of Peter Damsbo as Vice President, Drug Development. Maxygen Initiates Phase I Clinical Trial for Maxy-G34
Maxygen has initiated a Phase I clinical trial in the United States to evaluate the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profile of Maxy-G34, a next generation Granulocyte Colony Stimulating Factor (G-CSF) for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. The ongoing Phase I clinical trial is a double-blind placebo controlled dose escalation study in healthy male and female volunteers. Maxy-G34 is a PEGylated proprietary G-CSF variant designed to be administered as a single subcutaneous injection once per chemotherapy cycle. Read more
