The chairmen of the sessions will select qualified and relevant abstracts for poster presentations. All posters will participate in selection for the Medicon Valley Poster Award.

BioInvent and Cartela reach the first milestone in drug development for osteoarthritus treatment

The two Swedish companies, both based in Lund, have reached the first milestone in their research collaboration to develop an antibody based drug to treat osteoarthritus.

Exiqon enters into worldwide licencing agreement with U.S. Genomics

U.S. Genomics and Exiqon have entered into a worldwide license agreement to incorporate Exiqon’s A-Quencher into reagent kits for the U.S. Genomics Trilogy™ platform.

Evolva Biotech raises EUR 12 millon from first round of funding

The Danish biotech company Evolva recently announced that it has raised EUR 12 million of equity financing in a first-closing of its A-round. The financing was led by Aravis and included new investors Novartis Venture Fund, Yamanouchi Venture Capital and Dansk Innovationsinvestering. Existing investors Symbion Capital and Vaekstfonden also participated.

Highlight on research in Denmark in the 30 September 2004 issue of Nature

Nature's Highlight on Denmark will be introduced with an article from the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation outlining the current situation of research in Denmark and will be distributed at the BioTech Forum in Bella Center, 5-7 October 2004 in Copenhagen.

Sweden is the world's top country for biotech research and has a culture of innovation that breeds start-up companies, according to Newsweek

The 26 July issue of the US news magazine carries an analysis of Sweden's biotech industry that strongly praises the country for the extent of its commitment to research and development. The article cites a Cap Gemini Ernst & Young report, published in March 2004, stating that Sweden offers the best climate for biotech research and innovation in Europe, as well as the highest quality work force.

Nanosep - innovative newcomer in Medicon Valley

Nanosep AB develops technology for separating and purifying proteins, peptides and smaller molecules for further structure determination. The company has developed a new technique, based on nanotechnology which requires less material and is cleaner than traditional methods.
