Background

When launching the idea of a UK-Medicon Valley Collaboration Programme in 2004, the former UK Minister of Science and Innovation, Lord Sainsbury, stressed the world class biotech excellence in UK, Sweden and Denmark. Together the UK and Medicon Valley represent about half of all biotech investments in Europe, providing a unique position of interest to scientists and investors world-wide.

Since the beginning of the UK-Medicon Valley Bioscience Alliance, MVA and UKTI have co-arranged more than 11 seminars, conferences and missions. Highlights have included "Strictly Financing" showcasing new biotech investment opportunities for venture capitalists in June 2006 and a Bio-Nano seminar in February 2005.

The UK-Medicon Valley Bioscience Alliance is run jointly by the Medicon Valley Alliance (MVA) and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) at the British Embassies in Copenhagen and Stockholm.
