31 August 2005 / Ørestad / Copenhagen
Medicon Valley Alliance and UK Trade & Investment wish to bring together leading British, Swedish and Danish Tech Transfer experts to exchange experiences and discuss best practices and future needs. Ministerial contacts and stakeholders such as e.g. scientists, university and hospital administrators, entrepreneurs, incubators, seed investors, consultants etc. are also very welcome.
We have chosen to focus the meeting on two specific topics:
> Innovation in the healthcare system
> Proof-of-concept funding
We believe that there are lessons to be learnt from the UK and a great potential in establishing more UK Scandinavian relations amongst TTOs. It is our hope and expectation that stronger ties and new collaboration projects amongst the participants will emerge as a result of the meeting.
The UK-MVA mission in June identified very interesting experiences regarding the handling of innovation in the British health services and it was immediately decided to invite important NHS representatives to Medicon Valley. The mission was also impressed by the ability of Londons Imperial College to commercialise research and inventions with impressive revenues as result, which Imperial College Innovation will tell us more about. After returning from the mission we also found it relevant at this seminar to discuss how a Proof-of-concept fund could be implemented in our region (or in both countries). Therefore we have invited two representatives from Scotland to present the Scottish Proof-of-Concept Fund as well as and the impact the fund has had.
