Founding meeting for Project Management Network

14 October 2005 / 13-15 / Ørestad / Copenhagen

Medicon Valley Alliance member Synarc has proposed the start of a new network for experience exchange, inspiration and mutual learning between project managers within CROs and similar organisations. We believe that there are many items that could be discussed, which are too specific for the general Drug & Device Development network.

The founding meeting was held at Medicon Valley Alliance's premises at Ørestad, Arne Jacobsens Allé 17, Copenhagen S (see directions) on 14 October 2005, 13-15.

Notes from founding meeting

The meeting started with a presentation round (see list of network members), where the participants also mentioned their specific interests in a project management network. The following items were noted:

> technologies / methods (also courses) for more efficient projects
> best / worst practices
> latest trends (e.g. from invited speakers or new books)
> project organisations including virtual project groups
> interactions between small and big organisations
> interactions between preclinic and clinic
> stakeholder management, especially Who is the customer
> addressing international customers, cultural differences
> flexible customer management (separate SOPs, views etc.)
> scope/resource/quality/risk management
> how to enrol other experts, tailored to various customers
> experience exchange with individuals and knowledge sharing e.g. regarding successful/unsuccessful projects
> what is a successful project (cheap or complete or on time)?

It was decided that the next meeting will be held 1 December 2005 with the theme Approaches to Project Management. Read more by clicking here. The third meeting is planned for 3 February 2006. Programme for that meeting will be decided during the meeting in December.
