Call for Applications to the Elite Research Prize and the Elite Research Scholarship

The Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation this year offers five Elite Research Prizes of one million DDK to outstanding researchers (younger than 45 years) for an excellent contribution to Danish science and 16 Elite Research Scholarships of 250,000 DKK to very talented PhD students enrolled in Danish Research Institutions to conduct research in an excellent international research environment.

The Elite Research initiative was started in 2005 by the Danish Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation in order to provide greater focus to the most talented scientists and scholars contributing to research in Denmark and especially to make their results visible and to bring them forward as role models for students that consider a career in research.

The Elite Research Prize

The Elite Research Prize consists of a personal honorary prize of 200.000 DDK and a further 800.000 DDK to be used on research activities. This year the Minister offers five prizes to internationally outstanding researchers (younger than 45 years). The prizes are awarded in all scientific fields, social sciences and humanities.

Candidates can be nominated by universities, research institutions, and private companies with research activities in Denmark. The deadline for nominees is the 22nd of September 2008.

The Elite Research Scholarship

The Elite Research Scholarship gives exceptionally talented PhD students the opportunity to conduct research in excellent international research institutions for longer periods of time during their studies. This year the Minister offers 16 scholarships of 250.000 DDK.

Candidates can be nominated by universities and other research institutions that are able to award PhD degrees in Denmark. The deadline for nominees is the 1st of September 2008.
