A free support service for SMEs who wish to participate in EU Framework Programme Seven
The new framework programme FP7 in 2007-2013 focuses on increased participation of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and in continuation of this Passport, a project under the European Commission’s Economic and Technological Intelligence (ETI) programme, provides a helping hand.
Passport is an initiative set up to work with SMEs from seven EU regions and coach them in the skills and information needed to take part in EU-funded collaborative research and development projects for the life science sector.
Many SMEs have the potential to contribute to the development of Europe’s research and health sector, but few have the nerve and expertise to organize big consortia as well as constructing the extensive application needed for the EU funding. The problem for SMEs, many of them start-ups, is that they generally have few employees, who are dedicated to managing the business and they do not have the time nor the resources to build international partnerships. However Passport offers help in the making of consortia by arranging partnering events to encourage networking and collaboration.
