CRO Network History

The 'Medicon Valley CRO Network' was initiated in January 2008 with a two day seminar in Ystad, Sweden, focusing on how to create growth in Medicon Valley through joint branding of the region's CRO facilities. During 2008, Senior Project Manager Cathrine Due facilitated 4 CRO Network meetings in order to develop the concept further.

A number of different initiatives and measures, listed below, have been discussed within the CRO network.

  • Branding of Medicon Valley as one big CRO, hereunder development of joint online and offline marketing material
  • Development of a ‘Virtual Full Service Medicon Valley CRO', which will be accessible online
  • Identification of shared performance measures (pre-clinical and clinical measures) in order to document the high quality of Medicon Valley CRO's
  • Arrange ‘CRO Meets Customer Conference(s)' inside and outside Medicon Valley
  • Identify international CRO cooperation possibilities (with use of the Life Science Ambassador Programme)
  • Develop a joint patient database for easier recruitment (start with few therapeutic areas)

All initiatives have the overall purpose of strengthening the competitiveness of the Medicon Valley CRO's either through increased/improved branding, better access to customers and better access to patients.

From January 2009 Senior Project Manager Torsten Jepsen took over the responsibility of the network given that Cathrine Due ended her position in Medicon Valley Alliance.

The meeting on June 9, 2009 will take departure in the initiatives listed above and will aim to prioritize these as well as discuss ambition-level, timeframe, draft work-plan etc.
