About Bladder Academy

Bladder Academy is a network within urology with the goal to strengthen the urology competences in Medicon Valley and the competitiveness of the players involved.

Medicon Valley has strongholds in several fields such as diabetes, cancer and inflammation. But a recent survey done by consultancy New Insight stated that 1/3 of the biotech enterprises in Medicon Valley have urology as part of their business area. Every second of these enterprises have cancer as focus area and every fifth has incontinence as an explicit part of their portfolio. The survey also concluded that there are more than 30.000 urology patients each year in Medicon Valley, so there are certainly grounds for urology becoming a stronghold in Medicon Valley.

The background

Bladder Academy was originally initiated by Medicon Valley Alliance and Ferring. Medicon Valley Alliance provides project management and functions as a neutral platform for cooperation. The network will facilitate collaboration between hospitals, universities and industry as well as across Øresund.
